Need a lift?

Chances are that if you're in your 40s or 50s, you have considered how you'd look with a little "help." Lifts, whether they be of the face, neck, eye or brow, are the most effective way to look significantly younger.

It makes sense for men and women to hope that a laser, ultrasound, radiofrequency, freezing or even a procedure like microneedling will make a dramatic, lasting change to their face. "The truth is these modalities are capable of subtle changes but to fix these problems the body's anatomy must be restored. In the case of lifts of the face, eye, neck and brow, the most impressive results come from restoring the underlying tone so that the soft tissue lays youthfully above," says board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Justin Heller of Heller Plastic Surgery.

FACELIFTS
The "pulled too tight" facelift look of the past has been banished by Dr. Heller's unique method, which works on the layer of the fascia, not on the superficial surface layer of the skin. "By addressing the lax layer below the skin and lifting the fascia and muscle, the fat and soft tissue is also lifted, but without the tension in the skin," says the surgeon. "The result is that the youthful volume that once was droopy and lacking contour has again been elevated to its most beautiful position. You'll look like 'you,' just a substantially younger, a more refreshed version."

EYE LIFTS
Droopy eyes affect how you wear your makeup, how you look in photos - they can even make you feel tired because of the effort your muscles have to make in order to keep extra skin from impeding your vision. Because the eyes are the central focus of the face, incredible attention to detail must be given.

When working on the upper or lower eye, "I focus on the release, removal and repositioning of fat to create a smooth, stunning contour," says the doctor. And, it's also a short procedure which can be done in office with minimal recovery time and recreates the natural eyelid crease.

Those considering an eye lift often experience a descended brow with skin laxticity also; this creates a wrinkled, elongated forehead that can be addressed simultaneously with a brow lift, giving the brow back its arch and further rejuvenating the eye.

NECK LIFTS
The most common lift, neck lifts are so popular because of how dramatically younger people look after a good one. If the skin is in excellent condition, a simple treatment with highly-directed liposuction that creates micro fat grafts may be all you need to take 10 years off your look. Others may need an isolated neck lift in order to bring back the contour and youth to your silhouette. "No matter whether you require a mini lift or a standard procedure, you'll love the results of a neck lift. Your jaw line will become more attractive and defined, you'll look thinner in photos and one of the most aging elements of the body will appear toned and supple," says Dr. Heller.

BROW LIFTS
During a brow lift, you can treat the vertical and horizontal lines on the forehead and open up the entire eye area for better contour. The incisions are hidden in the hairline, making the procedure nearly imperceptible. "Your friends and family will think that you've gotten a lot of rest lately. They'll want to know your secret!," jokes the surgeon.
