Think about your summer makeup look the same way swimsuit models choose bikinis: when it comes to the heat of the season, less is more. Push your heavy matte powders and lipsticks to the back of your makeup drawer and embrace this never-goes-out-of-style summer mantra: skin is in.
Day
Start with a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen as a base, then lightly dab a cream concealer where you need it (under eyes, corners of nose, blemishes). If your skin is oily, set your base with a light dusting of loose powder. Highlight the inner eye with a white, shimmery cream (we like Senna's Fingerpaints 7) to brighten the face, then add a touch of color to the cheeks with a soft mocha blush (we like Chanel's Mocha Souffle). Finish with a clear, high-shine gloss. Because dips in the pool or water fights with the kids can be so impromptu, mascara and eyeliner are noticeably absent from this look (if you must, lightly coat lashes with a water-proof mascara to avoid embarrassing raccoon-eye).
Night
Punch up the drama of your day look by adding some smoke to the eyes. Line rims with black eyeliner, then lightly line the top and bottom lash line with a soft black shadow (Don't forget to blend.). Add a touch of sparkle to the inner corners with a silvery-white powder or cream, and if your eyebrows are less-than-luscious, shape them with a neutral brow powder to better define the face. Finish with a coat of black curling mascara and a swipe of a lightly-tinted gloss.
