More couples are choosing to celebrate their "new beginning" with weddings that embrace the timeless charm of the past. Here are some of this trends most popular elements.
The Desserts
Few brides are doing away with the wedding cake (and groom's cake!) altogether. But dessert tables are rounding out with expanded options like pies (sometimes served in individual-serving-sized mason jars) and cupcakes. The emphasis is on the "homemade" look - even when they're provided by a professional caterer. Presentation in old-style tins or mismatched crystal is popular, proving that "vintage" can be posh, too.
The Gown
Lace has proven to be an essential element in vintage-inspired weddings. Antique-white gowns, versus the bright-white found in modern ceremonies, is another commonality in "old is new again" events.

The Flowers
Grand cabbage roses mixed with seemingly wild, unfettered greens and blooms are a top choice for bouquets and centerpieces alike. "Clean and fresh" looks rule the day, as do smaller centerpieces - often made up of multiple, dimensional containers (vases, hurricane glass, etc.).
The Fun
We dare you to find something more vintage-y and fun than an old-fashioned ice cream truck serving 50-50 bars. The foodtruck craze has made this dream a reality for many couples.
The Favors
Share the sweetness of your love with nostalgic candies (either pre-bundled or displayed "candy-store style" for guests to choose their own treats). Another popular vintage favor: homemade jam or local honey. No need to try your hand at canning or bee keeping; both can be procured at your closest farmers market.
The Guest To-do's
Vintage photo props can be suggestive of a particular era (bow ties, fancy hats, ladies gloves, fans, pearls, etc.) or theme. Either way, guests have a blast taking silly pictures. Have plenty of disposable cameras (or Polaroid) available unless you can afford to hire a photographer to man the location.
The Extras
Chalkboard paint has been put to good use at more than one vintage-inspired wedding. Direct guests to the ceremony location or label buffet food items by painting cheap plywood with the chalkboard paint in the color of your choice. Cut the wood (or, ahem, have someone handy who's not walking down the aisle any time soon) to fit inside thriftstore frames for clever display.
