Do's & Don'ts of Wedding Makeup & Hair Prep
Don't...
• wait until the last minute to schedule a trial run for hair and makeup before your big day. Your wedding day is not the day to experiment with a new makeup look or hairstyle. Communicate with your stylist to ensure they understand your vision as you see it on your wedding day. Make sure to bring photos of the hair and makeup looks you want to try.
• wax your eyebrows the day before your wedding. In the event you have a reaction to the wax, you don't want to spend the day covering up red bumps or rash caused by an irritation.
• get a deep conditioning hair treatment right before your wedding. Your hair won't hold any curls or style! If you feel like your hair really needs it, schedule yours one to two weeks before your big day.
Do...
• put together a touch up beauty kit for your wedding day. This kit should have the essentials, including a small hairspray can, extra bobby pins, lipstick, waterproof mascara, tissues and blot powder. You may also want to include straws, scissors, safety pins, double stick tape, a nail file and mints.
• start getting facials a few months before your wedding to prep your skin. Remember, though, that facials will bring impurities out of your skin causing breakouts, especially if you have sensitive skin. Getting a first-time facial the day before the wedding could be disastrous.
• consult with your makeup artist and hair stylist about scheduling appointment times for you and your bridal party for your wedding day. You want to make sure you have a timeline you can work with and one that they can accommodate so you are not rushed on the day of your wedding.
• coordinate with your bridesmaids regarding their hair and makeup. You want to make sure they will not have the same hairstyle or makeup look as you do. The bride should have her own unique, special look.
