Often, doctors discover new, patient-centered treatments within the pages of multi-national medical journals. And sometimes they find it down the street, in the company of equally-celebrated peers.

The second option was in full view last month when Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Care hosted the first of many "Medical Professional" networking events at the organization's new, expansive office in Valencia.

Top SCV doctors gathered to share information, make connections and build collaborations while enjoying fine food, champagne and grand tours of the 11,000-square-foot office space. Long-time local providers appreciated the opportunity to meet some of the SCV's newest practitioners and employees.

The medical professionals in attendance ranged in expertise from internal medicine to chiropractics, pediatric care to OBGYNs. A sampling of the attendees include Shawn Abrishamy, MD; Soheil Simzar, MD; Eva Hernandez, PA-C; Celia Hann, MD; Don Nishiguchi, MD; Vinod Assomull, MD; Kelly Herta-Himes, MD; and Joni Bhutra, MD.

"This was a wonderful event," says David Raskin, CEO of Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Care. "Many of these doctors have been serving the Santa Clarita community for years and are great friends of our practice. It was an incredible experience for us to be able to bring these well-respected professionals together under one roof, at one time. It's impressive to see just how vast our resources are in this area."

Collaborations are already underway. "Many practitioners were surprised to discover that Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Care can easily accommodate fit-ins at our new location. As a patient, it is reassuring when you realize that, when you are a patient of one of these doctors, you are really a patient of an extended expert network," says Stacy Kepplinger, cosmetic consultant for Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Care. "It went so well, we may even begin working with outside physicians to allow them full use of our state-of-the-art operating room."
