Local Photographer Takes First at Print Competition
Paige Burghardt of Paige Photography took first place in Portrait Photography at the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association's Print Competition with her work, "On the Same Page." Her piece, "Drum Boyz," took second place in the Photojournalism category.

Get Organized for the New Year
On Tuesday, January 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., nonprofit executives will learn how to save time, save money and get organized. Attendees will develop priority-setting skills while finding out what disorganization is really costing. This session, provided by Barbara Ricketts, "The Mess Doctor," will teach you how to set up systems that will allow you to find the things you need in three minutes or less.
The fee is $20, payable at the door. The event will be held at the SCV Resource Center in the Activities Center at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 250-3720.
SCV Chamber of Commerce Launches New Website
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has unveiled its new website,
www.scvchamber.com. Working with WildCat Technology Solutions, locally run and owned by Joe Messina, the site will be a powerful tool in promoting the Santa Clarita Valley and its businesses.
Chamber members, visitors, and Santa Clarita Valley residents will benefit from the new features. Locals who want to keep money in Santa Clarita will be pleased with the new business directory, which has a wide spectrum of services and products.
The SCV Chamber of Commerce website has more than a quarter million views a year. With 58 percent of the site's traffic coming from outside California, the website serves as an aid to show off the valley both in business and quality of life.
The TPC at Valencia Ranked in "Top 101 Golf Experiences in the West"
The TPC at Valencia has been ranked amongst the "Top 101 Golf Experiences in the West" in the December 2005 issue of "Fairways & Greens."
The list is comprised of 101 courses stretching from San Diego to Southwestern Canada and out into Nevada, Idaho and Utah. A panel of judges, including golf writers and teaching professionals, collectively gathered their experiences of golfing in the West to develop the list.
$10 for a Better Future
The SCV Senior Center recently announced its 2005-2006 Annual Campaign, "$10 for a Better Future." The goal of the center, which is an independently funded nonprofit, is to raise $25,000 this year. The funds will directly benefit SCV's only local senior center, which provides services including enrichment opportunities, affordable hot meals, in-home meals, home improvements and more. The center hopes to receive $10 from every family in Santa Clarita so that every senior, and future senior, in our town has a brighter future.
