"Apprentice" Finalist to Speak at Soroptimist Series

Amy Henry, the last woman standing on the "Apprentice's" first season, will be talking about what it takes to gain control of your career and your life. The event is part of Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita's Emerging Women's Series and is scheduled for April 28 at the Hafizi home in Sand Canyon. Running from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., the event will also include lunch. Henry will share her experiences, skills and in-your-face advice for succeeding in the business world, particularly in male-dominated industries.

Extreme Makeover 2005 Launched

Once more, local doctors and image professionals have come together to change the life of one lucky Santa Clarita resident.

A combination of clever marketing and a desire to do good, Extreme Makeover Santa Clarita shows off the skills of local professionals. The cooperative effort is sponsored by cosmetic dentist Dr. Dell Goodrick, as well as plastic surgeons Dr. D. David Saadat and Dr Marc Lussier. Other participating image professionals include fitness expert Cheryl Broughton, Margo of Margo's Boutique and Udo of Shanelle Salon.

April Bilderbach, a dealer for Create-A-Book of California, is fulfilling her passion for children and business. The stay-at-home-mom makes personalized books for children that feature names of friends, siblings, and more right in the text of the book.

Fundraising opportunities are available through Bilderbach, and she is also hoping to introduce the product to other moms that are looking to increase their income while balancing family life.

The books are 30 pages to 36 pages each, are completely personalized, in full color, and are bound in a 7" by 8 1/2" hardcover. The books includes the child's name, friends' names, hometown, child's age, a dedication page, and more.
