What to Do After a Car Accident
After a car accident, injured parties will be taken to the hospital so their injuries can be treated. If the car accident was relatively minor, emergency medical services may not arrive at the scene. However, you are still strongly encouraged to seek medical attention. Not only can this benefit you physically - many injuries are not detectable until a few days or even a week after the accident - but a medical visit can create a medical record that serves as valuable proof of your injuries.
When both parties are able, they will start the claims process with their respective insurance companies. Filing a claim involves contacting your insurance company either by phone or online and reporting the details of the accident. After you give your insurance company these details, they will assign your case to a claims adjuster. The adjuster will evaluate the details of the accident, look over your insurance policy and correspond with the other driver's insurance company to arrive at a settlement amount. One thing about insurance companies that you must know: They will do whatever it takes to minimize the value of your claim. Why? Because the less you get, the more the insurance company gets to keep. That's why working with a personal-injury firm can be very advantageous.

Is it Time to Update your Existing Trust?
by Edward O'Hare
Do you already have a trust? Reviewing it every few years is a simple thing to do. In estate planning law, there is an informal rule that a trust should be reviewed every three to five years by an estate planning attorney. If it has been longer than that, say 10 years or more, it is a very good idea to set aside an hour of your time to have this done. During your review, your trust will be checked to make sure it was executed properly, and you will discuss your current wishes and compare how those wishes align with your trust.
Here are some of the key points to consider during your review:
Have you moved, inherited money or refinanced your home since creating your trust? Do you want to disinherit anyone? Are your children now adults who you'd like to name as your successor trustees? Do you still have a great relationship with your named successor trustee - and are you in regular touch with them? How is their health? Have they moved?
During trust reviews we have uncovered and corrected everything from improperly notarized documents, documents which require two witness signatures only containing one and also many changes among families during the different phases of life. Having your trust created is an investment in time and money. By answering the above questions every few years and correcting any potential problems now, you will make sure you receive the maximum benefit from your trust for many years to come and ensure that your loved ones have an easy, smooth process when they administer your trust.
