Well-known surgeon named Top Doctor of 2018
July, 2018 - Issue #166

Here's big news for one of So Cal's most sought-after spine surgeons, Dr. Kapil Moza. The board-certified specialist, who's as well known for his brilliant surgical outcomes as he is for his warm bedside manner, has just been named Castle Connolly's Top Doctor of 2018.

This prestigious, rare award is only granted to America's top doctors who have shown unmatched expertise, knowledge and have received the recommendation of colleagues in their medical profession. "It's an incredible honor - one I'm humble and grateful to receive," says Dr. Moza. "To be included in this nation-wide community of the most exceptional physicians makes me all the more dedicated to serving people the best way I know how - by eliminating pain and restoring movement to those who are hurting the most."

This award shouldn't come as a surprise to those following the often-honored doctor's career. Dr. Moza has also been granted the "Super Doctors Award" three years in a row, as well as named to the Blue Ribbon Panel, to which only those who have received the highest scores are permitted. According to the Super Doctors' website, "In selecting physicians for Super Doctors, MSP Communications employs a rigorous multi-step process designed to identify physicians who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement."

What You should Know about the "Top Doctor"

Dr. Moza received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1998 - and has prompted his field to evolve toward more minimally-invasive, life-affirming procedures in those two decades. He's considered an innovator and groundbreaker in neurosurgery.

Dr. Moza is a board-certified, fellow-ship trained neurosurgeon specializing in minimally-invasive surgery, complex spine surgery and cerebrovascular/skull-base surgery. Dr. Moza is ranked number-one regionally among all spine surgeons because of his superior outcomes, seven consecutive years of zero infection rates and top patient-satisfaction scores.

Dr. Moza is a proud member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society - one of the hardest organizations to qualify for.

Dr. Moza served as an instructor of skull-base surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in 2004 and an assistant clinical professor of Neurosurgery at the University of California, Irvine in 2005. Because of his prowess in the classroom, a new generation of neurosurgeons have begun offering surgical procedures that take less time in the hospital - and in recovery - with better outcomes.

He was the first in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties to perform cervical artificial disc replacement in 2007 and is the area's foremost leader in spine surgery and neurosurgery.

Dr. Moza currently serves as the CEO and medical director of the Centurion Surgical Center, an outpatient surgical center that is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and specializes in minimally-invasive spine surgery and interventional pain management. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed by board-certified surgeons and physicians, Centurion boasts the largest operating room in any ambulatory surgical center in California. It serves as a center of excellence for patients seeking minimally-invasive spine surgery and artificial disc replacement, as well as interventional pain management treatments like radio-frequency ablation, epidural injections and spinal-cord stimulator implantation.
