In June of 2014 the Santa Clarita Redhawks will be traveling to Cooperstown New York to represent the City of Santa Clarita in a national tournament. The cost to compete is expensive. •  Festival of Trees - The event will begin with a special swing dance night, followed by the very popular Holiday Hocus Pocus Magic Show on Saturday, November 16 with a second, but completely different show on Friday, November 22. On Saturday night, November 23, a live auction of select trees will be held at the "Magic of the Lights" gala. A cocktail and hors d' oeuvres reception with entertainment by the COC Performing Arts Department kicks off the evening.
The event features elaborately-decorated holiday trees ranging in height from three to 10 feet, some with themed vignettes and special gifts like tickets to sports and entertainment events, furniture and jewelry. A big crowd favorite is the Gingerbread Village, where crafty culinary artisans showcase their talents with amazing gingerbread creations. Gingerbread creations as well as decorative wreaths and tabletop trees are available for purchase.
There is something for everyone at the festival and youngsters will delight in the many activities offered in the Kids Corner, like candy necklace making, cookie decorating and more. Even jolly old Saint Nick will make the trip south a little early to be on hand for photos with the kids. Carolers and magicians will perform at various times throughout the event and a variety of local musical and dance acts will be featured on the Festival stage. Festival hours vary. General admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children, $4 for seniors and children ages 3 and under are free.
