Bridge to Home, the primary homeless-services provider in the Santa Clarita Valley, is gearing up for their premier fundraiser, "Soup for the Soul - Help our Neighbors Build a Bridge to Home this Holiday Season," on Saturday, December 5, through a first-time virtual event.
This year's virtual Soup for the Soul event will kick off before Thanksgiving and extend through the holiday season with an auction full of exclusive, sought-after items - and will undoubtedly reach its largest audience yet!
In addition to accepting donations of auction items for bidding, Soup for the Soul has wonderful sponsorship opportunities. Ranging in levels from Soup Spoon to Soupreme sponsorship, the benefits of sponsoring the event go beyond contributing to a well-deserving cause. Beginning immediately and lasting a full year, benefits of event sponsorship include logo displays on the Bridge to Home website, recognition at the event, customized Soup for the Soul experiences and much more.
"The continued goal for 2020 is closing the FUNDING GAP for a permanent facility while also ensuring the high-risk homeless population in the Santa Clarita Valley has access to increased safety measures and resources needed during the COVID crisis."
With 2020 bringing the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Bridge to Home has worked tirelessly to make sure that its primary fundraising event is able to abide by the current restrictions while still bringing the community together to support the goal of providing critical resources - and, soon, a permanent shelter facility in the Santa Clarita Valley.
In 2019, Bridge to Home was able to expand services to provide a 365-day-per-year shelter facility with a 60-bed capacity. This was a monumental victory for Bridge to Home, along with community partners such as the Homeless Task Force, volunteers and community members that have donated time, resources and financial support to achieve the year-round shelter.
The continued goal for 2020 is closing the funding gap for a permanent facility while also ensuring the high-risk homeless population in the Santa Clarita Valley has access to increased safety measures and resources needed during the COVID crisis. One way that increased need is currently being met is through the partnership with the City of Santa Clarita, which has provided the Newhall Community Center as a temporary shelter facility. This location provides additional space to accommodate physical distancing requirements.
The plans for the permanent facility that is currently being designed for the Drayton Street location brings proper hygienic facilities, a designated space for families and an overall increased capacity for offering the vital support services that will aid in providing those experiencing homelessness - a bridge to a permanent home.
The services provided by Bridge to Home include shelter, case management, housing navigation, direct referrals to social services such as legal, medical, mental health and substance abuse assistance, as well as linkages to needed support services. These crucial services help individuals and families in the Santa Clarita Valley transition out of homelessness.
