"These TWO NEW AMENITIES join the city-owned parking structure on the redevelopment block and all the bustling restaurants, tasting rooms, breweries and entertainment venues on Main Street!"
Q: It looks like the Laemmle Theatres and neighboring buildings are almost complete. What's the latest in Old Town Newhall?
It is really incredible to see the progress that has been made in Old Town Newhall and the revitalization that has taken place over the past decade. Work is finishing up on Laemmle Newhall and now the furnishings, decor and, of course, movie screens are going in. Soon residents will be able to view art-house films and festival favorites on seven different screens. Right next door at Newhall Crossings, residents have already moved into several of the apartment units and it is expected that all of the units will be occupied by the end of the month. Meanwhile, on the first floor, the tenants of the restaurant/retail spaces are moving in and preparing to welcome customers. These two new amenities join the city-owned parking structure on the redevelopment block and all the bustling restaurants, tasting rooms, breweries and entertainment venues on Main Street!

Q: One of the most popular city events two-steps into William S. Hart Park in Old Town Newhall this month. What is your favorite part about the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival (April 18 and 19, 2020)?
It's tough to choose just one. I know my kids enjoy all of the activities at the festival. Their favorites include the hatchet throwing, archery, panning for gold, roping and riding the mechanical bull. For me, the music is always a big draw. There are five stages featuring talented artists playing Bluegrass, Folk, Americana, Country and Alt-Country. Admission is once again free to the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, but there are several special-ticketed events. One you won't want to miss is the Saturday night (April 18) Friends of Hart Park concert featuring Garth Guy. Fans of Garth Brooks will get to hear all of his much-loved songs from this amazing tribute artist. Tickets are just $15. The other highlight of the Cowboy Festival is the food. The Chili Cook-off was a huge success last year with hundreds of guests lining up to taste. Make sure you get your tasting tickets this year and then cast your vote for the best chili in the West. Q: There is another big event coming up this month. For people who have not attended before - what can they expect at Earth Arbor Day?
The event is held in conjunction with worldwide Earth Day and is coming up on Saturday, April 25, at Central Park. This free festival is an opportunity for residents of all ages to learn about eco-friendly products and programs and learn how to protect and preserve our environment. Kids will enjoy the many interactive booths, petting zoo and the chance to plant a tree. Earth Arbor Day is combined with the KHTS Santa Clarita Home and Garden Show, Emergency Expo and KHTS Arts and Crafts Fair, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Over 250 vendors will be on hand showcasing the latest in solar energy, pool design and home remodeling. At the festival, the city will also accept its 30th consecutive Tree City USA award from the National Arbor Day Foundation. This event comes at a time when the city is helping to inform residents how to recycle right through our Recycle Hero campaign. Anyone can be a Recycle Hero by knowing what items can be recycled and what should not. For more information, please visit greensantaclarita.com.
