some ways residents can keep their belongings safe?
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it is easy for us to forget basic safety precautions to protect us and any gifts we have purchased. Everyone should remember to "Lock It or Lose It." First, do not leave valuable items in plain sight or even slightly hidden inside your vehicles; instead, you should secure them in the trunk. Additionally, always lock your car, even when parked in front of your house. Once you return home, promptly unload valuables from your car to your home. Concealing any signs of valuable items, such as charging cables or phone mounts, can help deter thieves who might otherwise break windows to check for hidden treasures. Parking in busy, well-lit areas and staying aware of your surroundings can discourage thieves from attempting a break-in. Setting an alarm or utilizing an anti-theft device is an effective deterrent as well. Avoid using hide-a-keys, as thieves are often familiar with their hiding spots. Lastly, do not rely solely on dark, tinted windows to conceal valuables, as thieves may use flashlights to see inside the vehicle. Coverings, like blankets or towels, might also draw unwanted attention. Residents should be mindful of leaving their remote garage door openers and car registrations in the glove box, as these items could turn a car break-in into a home break-in. Q: It really starts feeling like the holidays once all the decorations and sparkling lights are up around town. What is the best way for residents to enjoy the festive displays?
Seeing Old Town Newhall transform into a holiday wonderland is one of my favorite sights of the year. Make sure to take the time to explore the decor on Main Street - from the light up photo ops, to the glowing Christmas tree, you will definitely feel the spirit of the season. If you want to see how residents deck the halls, take part in the Holiday Light Tour hosted by Santa Clarita Transit. Ride in comfort as you explore the most wonderfully-decorated neighborhoods aboard a Santa Clarita Transit bus or trolley. The tours are scheduled to run from December 15 to December 17, starting promptly at 6pm, each day. You can participate for a fee of $3, or you have the option to waive the fee by bringing along a canned food donation. All canned food contributions collected during these tours will be donated to the Santa Clarita Food Pantry, making a meaningful difference in our local community.
