Q: Santa Clarita Dodger Day is just around the corner!
Can you share some details about this exciting event?
The 46th Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 7:10pm, where residents can support our boys in blue taking on the Washington Nationals. Some of my favorite memories were made at Dodger Stadium enjoying a Dodger Dog and garlic fries - and I'd like to invite our residents to do the same! Whether you're a longtime Dodger fan like me or it's your first time attending a game, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the evening with friends and family. The team and their fans are charged up after claiming the 2024 World Series title, so make sure to buy your tickets quickly because seating will be limited. Tickets range from $53 to $120 and Santa Clarita residents will be grouped together based on the tier they purchase. The first 300 people who buy tickets will score a limited-edition Santa Clarita Dodger Day clear stadium drawstring bag, sponsored by Henry Rodriguez State Farm Insurance Agent. Additionally, the first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a special giveaway - an Ice Cube Bobblehead, celebrating the iconic Los Angeles rapper and actor. For easy, hassle-free travel, catch the Santa Clarita Dodger Day Shuttle to and from the baseball game. Rides will be offered for $3 each way, which can be paid with cash, with a TAP card or through the Token Transit mobile app upon boarding the bus. Q: With the Castaic Animal Care Center at full capacity,
why is it important to encourage residents to adopt, not shop for pets?
Santa Clarita is a pet-friendly city where pets aren't just considered part of our family but part of our community, as well. With plenty of scenic paseos, dedicated dog parks and open spaces, there are endless opportunities for residents to explore with their furry friends. The city collaborates with the Castaic Animal Care Center, supporting adoption events and helping spread the word about the importance of adoption. Adopting a shelter pet not only gives them a second chance at life but also helps ease overcrowding to make sure all shelter animals receive proper care. The Care Center offers a wide range of animals ready for adoption and provides a screening process to match pets with suitable families and lifestyles, ensuring everyone can find a companion that fits their needs. It's the perfect opportunity to find a new fur-ever friend who will bring love and companionship into your life. This message is the heart of our newest Sammy Stories book - "They Call it Puppy Love" - where the city's mascot, Sammy Clarita, visits real places around the city, like our trails, Fire Station 107 and the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library Branch, and meets unique working dogs. After deciding he wants a pet of his own, Sammy is directed to the Castaic Animal Care Center and ultimately adopts his best friend, a puppy named Biscuit. If you are like Sammy and ready to add a furry friend to your home, now is the perfect time to visit the Castaic Animal Care Center. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday, from 11am to 5pm, and is located at 31044 Charlie Canyon Road. Learn more about all of their available pets by visiting
santaclarita.gov/animalcare, and be sure to check out Sammy Stories at sammyclarita.com, for a fun way to share the importance of adoption with our younger residents.
"Our HIKING EVENTS are now even more unique with added activities like line dancing, painting, family games and guided exercise."
Q; Spring is here! How can residents get out and enjoy this beautiful weather?
The city is a prime destination for outdoor activities, thanks to our commitment to preserving open space. Recent rain has breathed new life into our hillsides, which are now coated green, and what better way to enjoy the beautiful greenery than by going on a hike! Join us for the next community hike on Sunday, April 27, at 10am at Towsley Canyon, where residents will come together to play exciting family games while enjoying a relaxing hike through the hills. Santa Clarita's Community Hikes will continue from spring through summer, with city staff hosting monthly events consisting of scenic hikes in different locations with each trail varying in distance and difficulty. These community hikes are a great way to stay active, enjoy nature and meet new people while exploring Santa Clarita's 13,000-plus acres of open space.
