April in Santa Clarita is a magical month - it's not yet oven-crisping hot... and three local festivals give us
excuses a'plenty to get outside and enjoy some of the best our community has to offer.

at the Eighth Annual Sierra Pelona Wine Festival
On Saturday, April 4, the Sierra Pelona Valley AVA Wine Festival will introduce you to local wine makers, ciders, craft breweries, handcrafted spirits, locally-produced gourmet eats, handcrafts, live musicians, distinct auction selections and more - all to benefit Zonta Club of the SCV. You'll receive a specialty event glass and plate, gift bag, wine and food sampling and free parking. Don't wait to purchase your ticket - prices are raised on April 1. Everyone's from the
Old West at the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival
Dust off your boots and grab your cowboy hat because the 27th Annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by California Resources Corporation, is riding into William S. Hart Park in Old Town Newhall on April 18 and 19!
This year's festival will once again feature your favorite western food, music, shopping and activities.
Back by popular demand is the Chili Cook-off, which will take place on Saturday, April 18. The best chili chefs in the west will go head to head to see who's recipe will knock your boots off. Proceeds from the Chili Cook-off will benefit Bridge to Home, a local non-profit organization assisting those experiencing homelessness in Santa Clarita.
The Cowboy Festival also features musical acts from a variety of genres - see the likes of Gethen Jenkins, Kristyn Harris and Syd Masters and the Swing Riders. Enjoy performances across five stages within William S. Hart Park both days for free.
While you're there, take the opportunity to explore the beautiful park and get a free tour of the William S. Hart Mansion, the former home of the first cowboy movie star.

Emergency Expo, Earth Day/Arbor Day &
Craft Fair Make for Free Family Fun
The largest trade show in Santa Clarita will be happening on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and April 26 at Central Park as the KHTS Home & Garden Show and KHTS Emergency Expo, Earth Day/Arbor Day and Craft Fair is unveiled.
Last year, over 20,000 Santa Clarita Homeowners attended over the weekend. Admission is free to the public for all activities.
"We have over 400 exhibitors participating," shares KHTS radio Owner Carl Goldman. "We're bringing back many of the exciting features from previous years, including over a dozen food trucks, the KHTS Arts & Crafts Marketplace and our very extensive kids' area including pig races, pony rides and a petting zoo courtesy of Gilchrist Farm."
The City of Santa Clarita is back with their annual Earth Day/Arbor Day - a separate attraction embedded inside the giant show. They will be featuring a free tree and mulch giveaway on Saturday. There's so much fun to be had!
Guests can climb on board a fire truck, hit the siren on a sheriff patrol car and watch a demonstration of the "Jaws of Life," by the Los Angeles County Fire Department; discover design, decorating and other creative tips from top local specialists; experience the latest local crafts and artwork by Santa Clarita and more. Santa Clarita local nurseries will be featuring special landscape displays and you can take home a kitten or puppy - animal-rescue organizations will be onsite.
"Most exhibitors are Santa Clarita businesses involved in our valley for many years. They have a commitment to making certain you get the best possible advice and guidance," explains Goldman.
"We've taken great care to provide a wide selection of products to enhance the visiting experience," adds KHTS Owner Jeri Seratti-Goldman. "We've limited the amount of participants in each category."
The KHTS Emergency Expo will be happening all day Saturday from 10am to 5pm at Central Park, connected to the KHTS Home and Garden Show. Show times are Saturday, April 25 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, April 26, from 10am to 4pm.
