In celebration of 25 years of inviting the community to tour spectacular Santa Clarita Valley homes professionally decorated for the holidays, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Home Tour League will theme its Silver Anniversary Tour, held on December 3, "25 Years of Tradition."
"This is a remarkable achievement,'' said Betty Oldfield, the Home Tour's first chair. "I think the leadership of the hospital's Home Tour League has been wonderful each year and it's very rewarding to see how well the tour has done since 1981."
The first Tour, offered through the Hospital Auxiliary on December 5, 1981, featured three Newhall homes and one Valencia home. It was so successful, that in 1982 the Hospital created the Home Tour League to continue the tradition, which has raised more than $600,000 for the hospital.
This year's Silver Anniversary Tour will mark the participation of 100 homes over 25 years and will include a custom-built, country-style home in Newhall; a traditional Peachland estate in Newhall; a custom-built Sand Canyon home; and a modern Robinson Ranch home.
The tour, open to adults and children over 12, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in conjunction with a holiday boutique, open to all at no charge at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Assembly Hall in Newhall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
A Black-Tie Preview Gala December 2 will kick off the anniversary celebration with an initial glimpse of the decorated homes and a dinner and slide show of Tour homes featured over the years at the Hyatt Valencia.
