Kids' Cancer Nonprofit Needs Businesses to Recycle
December, 2006 - Issue #26
Mac's Project, Inc. has announced its "Recycle for Life" program and the collection of aluminum, plastic and glass beverage containers. Proceeds from recycling efforts will raise money to benefit area children being treated at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and their families.

By donating your recyclable beverage containers to the program, businesses are not only donating for the benefit of our area children but are doing something about our environment and helping to keep California beautiful.

All businesses need to do is save their recyclable beverage containers in the bins provided by the organization and then call when it is full. Volunteers will go directly to the business for pick up. Businesses of all types, as well as individuals, are encouraged to participate. Neighborhood and home pick up is also available.

Mac's Project is a 501-c3 nonprofit orporation created by Chuck and Teri Maier after experiencing first-hand the trials and tribulations faced by families dealing with serious life threatening childhood illness. Their daughter MacKenzie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (an aggressive form of childhood cancer) in October 2004.

After 14 months of treatment at Children's Hospital in Los Angeles the family is thrilled to announce that Mackenzie's body is free of cancer. Says the couple, "We are grateful that, through this generosity, one or both of us was able to take time off work to be with our daughter during her treatments, and we want to do what we can to make that a realistic goal for other families suffering through similar illnesses. We feel like recycling is a great method for us to use in our fundraising efforts because not only will we generate funds for our organization to use, but we will hopefully be making a difference in keeping Santa Clarita, and our planet, beautiful and healthy."
