Canyon High

If a rough-and-tumble football coach can be the belle of the ball, then Canyon High School's Harry Welch is it. The Signal's Newsmaker Awards not only granted the pigskin guru with the title of Newsmaker of the Year, but his team of "Are they good enough to beat Hart?" gents also stole the title of Sports Team of the Year (and to answer that pressing hypothetical question, the answer is, "Yes, in the CIF championship game, in fact.").

From balls to babies... Anyone seen a pretty blonde real estate agent floating around town with a perma-grin? Don't blame Pam Ingram's 1,000-watt smile on all those "Sold!" signs she has around town; just glance at the pic of wee little Miss Taylor Ashlee Ingram. Yes, Pam and husband Steve Ingram are first-time gram and gramps, thanks to son Chris and daughter-in-law Elise Ingram. We wish them a hearty congratulations.

Jay Schutz and Bill McClendon
Jay Schutz and Bill McClendon
It would be funnier if we told you that SCV's most desired bachelor, Jay Schutz of All Corked Up fame was the only one who showed up to the SCV Chamber Installation Dinner in full pirate regalia (we thought this pic of him next to debonair Bill McClendon of Lexus of Valencia would really show a contrast), but alas, many an SCVian made the fashion faux pas of their lives and donned so many eye patches and fake parrots that we lost count. In a weird twist of "What's the theme again?" fate, Sharon Bronson of KHTS and Kris Hough of SCV Bank share what we can only guess is a Mardi Gras feather boa, which we think goes strikingly well with Hough's "Ahoy Matey!" hoop earrings. Mocking the theme further was Carl Goldman of KHTS, who it seems believed a hat and suspenders from Wall Street circa the 1950s would be oh so apropos for a Pirates of the Caribbean evening. Hough did a fantastic job MCing the lengthy affair, by the way (and no, we're not just saying that because we dissed her thematic fashion sense in the previous sentence. PS: Sharon and Carl, you guys looked super-hot that night!).
