Bob Kellar
Bob Kellar
Full disclosure: I "heart" Bob Kellar. He's got that cute "cowboy who drinks chardonnay" thing going for him, and he used to be a cop. Bob Kellar with a gun? Now that's hot. (I'll wait for you to complete your brain scrubbing before we move on.)

You're back. Good. Anyhoo, you might have wondered about what Kellar used to look like in his blues (guilty as charged!), but you may not have pondered about what's really going on in his head (besides strategizing over the next city council election).

Fast forward to Birdies for the Brave, a super awesome golf tournament hosted by Valencia Country Club (kudos must be extended to VCC golf pro Craig Cliver and GM Jim Fitzsimmons for an exceptional tournament). The successful event raised funds and attention for a national military outreach program that supports the brave men and women in uniform - and their families.

Everyone's favorite congressman, Howard "Buck" McKeon, was named honorary chair of Birdies - and like any good public servant, he brought his special "podium seal" with him.

And after Buck was done with it... Well, a picture is worth a thousand words. Here's eight that might have run through the often-mayor's thoughts: "Congressman Bob Kellar. Now that sounds real good." Well, maybe not. But doesn't that seal make him look hot?

You know who else looked hot this month? Gloria Mercado Fortine channeling her inner Pauline Harte, complete with flowing locks and signature shades, at the Zonta Roast of Duane Harte. Bill and Laura McLendon and Mike Fligg of Keyes Lexus of Valencia were also on hand to witness the flogging of the Harley Davidson lover.

The last 30 days also saw the dawn of a new event, Assistance League's "Sunset in the Vineyard." Over 300 guests enjoyed a glorious afternoon of wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, an autumn vineyard, music and more at the inaugural party. The fundraising event took place at the picturesque home and Compa Vineyard of Jeannie, Chris and Tim Carpenter. Delicious goodness was made by my favorite foods teacher (Go, Sierra Vista Plainsmen!) Betty Rabin Fung, seen here with Nanette Ferrara of McKenna & Greene.

The spirits also flowed at Henry Mayo's annual Home Tour. A festively-decorated Sand Canyon estate played a decidedly-more-sophisticated version of the North Pole. Guests, including Shelley Hann and Myra Harbour, owner of Celebrate - Planning for an Event to Remember, dined on a petite buffet courtesy of Salt Creek Grille.
