Santa Clarita Ballet's "Nutcracker" Returns To The Performing Arts Center
Three years ago, the Santa Clarita Ballet celebrated a major milestone in the company's history: the 25th anniversary of the Santa Clarita Ballet's dazzling "Nutcracker." When the curtain came down on their last performance in December 2019, no one would have guessed how long they would have to wait to present their beloved holiday classic to the Santa Clarita Valley again.
Happily, that day has finally arrived and the Santa Clarita Ballet returns to the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center stage this December with three public performances of "The Nutcracker" with its sumptuous sets and costumes and Tchaikovsky's memorable score.
The dancers are beyond thrilled to perform live on stage again and audiences will be delighted to know all their favorites will be returning: Bryan Wallk as the eccentric Uncle Drosselmeyer, Raydel Caceres as the gallant Cavalier, Danny Davalos displaying his acrobatic partnering in the Arabian dance and, of course, the adorable Gumdrops who emerge from under the towering Madame Gigogne's gigantic skirt.
The ballet's heroine, Marie, will be danced by Faith Freund, a ninth grader at Village Christian School. The Sugar Plum Fairy will be danced by Kira Gilliam, a senior at Valencia High School. The Nutcracker's nemesis, The Rat King, will be danced by Cari Mayfield, a freshman at CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts.
Performances will be at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons on Saturday, December 17 at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, December 18 at 2pm.

Canyon Theatre Guild Invites You to Celebrate the Season with "White Christmas"
For the past 35 years, Canyon Theatre Guild has been delighting the community with their annual holiday show. These timeless tales are a sure-fire way to get into the holiday spirit. Audience members are also immersed in a cozy environment that's only created once a year: CTG transforms their classic playhouse into a winter wonderland. Carolers serenade the crowd before excited patrons of all ages bustle in for the evening's entertainment. Everything from the wreaths and garlands adorning the walls to the warm scent of apple cider create holiday bliss.
Now, Canyon Theatre Guild creates its magic again by producing the hit musical, Irving Berlin's "White Christmas." It is based on the movie of the same name, which featured hit stars of the 20th century Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and more.
Artistic and Executive Director TimBen Boydston pairs with Co-Director Michael Smith to lead the cast through the musical journey where two World War II vets have become partners in a song-and-dance act after the war. Looking for love, they follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters to a gig at a Vermont lodge, which happens to be owned by their former army commander General Waverly. The cast dazzles in iconic numbers, including "Snow," "Sisters," "Blue Skies," and of course the titular "White Christmas."
Don't miss your chance to be a part of the magic! Performances begin November 25 and go until December 23. Tickets are only $23 for adults and $19 for seniors and children.
