Ventura County's Historic Hidden Gem
Santa Clarita's New Escape
March, 2019 - Issue #174

Nestled in the hills of Somis with panoramic views of city skyline, Pacific-ocean coast and Channel Islands lies a place so nourishing to the soul, its name literally translates to "shelter." The Saticoy Club is located just two exits past Santa Paula, about 45 minutes from Magic Mountain, but it feels a world away.

"As a Santa Clarita resident, I can speak firsthand - the drive is part of the experience," says Saticoy Sales and Marketing Director Missy Carter, who now counts her commute as a favorite part of the day. "The rolling grass-covered hills, organic fields, orchards, farmstands and quaint small towns you pass through on the 126 are such a joy to see. It's 'vintage postcard California' - simply gorgeous. Once you arrive at The Saticoy Club, it's like you've been transported to a slower, more relaxing time."

"I was drawn to the history and hospitality of this place," explains Carter. "Everyone, from staff to our members, is warm and welcoming. And having the chance to work with Saticoy General Manager Mike Van der Goes was an opportunity too good to pass up. His vision, leadership, commitment and transparency is a real advantage for our Club."

A shelter from your hectic everyday life, The Saticoy Club's premium membership experience revolves around the beautiful championship tree-lined course, which is protected by strategic bunker placement and complex greens. "It plays hard and fast," says Carter. "Members love our crowd-free course, though many are here just to take advantage of our California-cuisine dining." That makes sense when you see the Club facilities, stunningly appointed with traditional oak, refined leathers, stone and floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

"The ambiance is second to none," says Carter. "Birds of paradise, Stone pines, jacaranda trees, coastal views, our salty ocean breeze and perfect year-round weather make The Saticoy Club an instant favorite with our Santa Clarita members."
"This is California's best-kept golf secret. The first private club in Ventura County, it's second to none in course and Club experience," shares Missy Carter of The Saticoy Club.
