Disney's "Newsies" Opens at Canyon Theatre Guild
Known for its show-stopping dance numbers, wonderful Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken ("Little Shop of Horrors," "Sister Act") and amazing story, this is a do-not-miss show!
Set in 1899 New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of young "newsies." When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right.
Jennifer Teague, director of CTG hits such as "Matilda," "Jekyll and Hyde" and "Little Women," is excited for "Newsies" to be her next big production. When asked about the show, she comments: "I love a good story about an underdog and the fact that it's rooted in history makes it even better. Being a teacher, I have a heart for children and I have a number of them in the show - as young as 8 years old!"
Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by a true story, "Newsies" features the now-classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day" and "Santa Fe" and is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience. Performances run until April 30.

The Master's University Theatre Arts Presents "Father of the Bride"
Tickets are now on sale for The Master's University Theatre Arts production of the time-honored classic, "Father of the Bride."
There will be six showings from March 24 to April 1, with performances held at the school's North Campus, located between Quigley Canyon Road and Placeritos Boulevard.
The SCV community is welcomed to campus for this heartwarming and funny show full of hilarious characters, lots of warmth and a strong sense of family.
"Father of the Bride" follows main character Mr. Banks, who must come to terms with his daughter's impending marriage. Banks didn't envision this day coming so soon, but it's largely up to him to determine whether it remains a joyous occasion - or becomes a complete catastrophe. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with Saturday matinees at 2pm.
