Legacy Christian Academy Named National Blue Ribbon School
One of Only 50 Private Schools in Nation
November, 2015 - Issue #133
The banner at Legacy Christian Academy that hangs prestigiously 26 feet above ground says it all: "Proud to be named a National Blue Ribbon School."

Know what's even higher than that banner, besides Legacy Lion spirit, of course? The Academy's test scores, which is just one of the many reasons the kindergarten-through-eighth-grade private Christian school earned this impressive honor. "We were named an Exemplary High Performing School," explains Tim Borruel, Legacy's Co-founder and superintendent. "Legacy's SAT-10 scores are among some of the very highest in the nation, with a 92 percentile average."

"Legacy is known locally for student achievement; a warm family environment; character building; joyous learning and as a place where a child can grow their love of the Lord. To be recognized nationally for these qualities and more is a humbling HONOR,"
Tim Borruel, Legacy Co-founder & superintendent
"It's not just about the test scores, though," observes the founder that staff and former students affectionately call "Coach." "Legacy accelerates its academic expectations in the core skills of reading, writing and mathematics. Our curriculum is nearly unmatched and our methods have proven so successful over the years. Students receive differentiated, small-group instruction from two teachers in each elementary classroom for a student-teacher ratio of 13:1. The opportunity for individual attention soars when you are actively learning in a peer group of only a handful of other students, thanks to our innovative rotation method. Students, parents, teachers - they all love it, and it shows!"
Legacy's educational program emphasizes excellence in written communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills. A primary focus of academic enrichment is the acquisition of advanced technological and science skills. STEM learning is promoted through MIND math, the computer lab, and FOSS science labs.

Legacy Christian Academy Co-founders Tim and Donna Borruel established the school in 1995 with the goal of providing a challenging curriculum coupled with a character-building environment. "We couldn't be happier to announce the receipt of this award to the community," says Legacy Christian Academy Co-founder and Director of Curriculum Donna Borruel. "To be able to represent our city, county and state in Washington DC as one of only four private schools in California to earn this title is humbling and thrilling."

"We are incredibly proud of this recognition," says the former teacher. "Our administration, teachers, parents and students are all deeply honored to receive this award."

Principal Dr. Matthew Northrop agrees. "Being named a National Blue Ribbon School is a testament to Legacy's accelerated academic curriculum, STEM programming and technology investments, warm community culture that exalts Christ and family of educators and parents that works so hard to provide the best for our students."
