Legacy Christian Hosts Enrollment Open Houses
November, 2017 - Issue #158

If you live in our around the SCV, you know about Legacy Christian Academy. From their incredible competitive-league athletic-title wins and jaw-dropping theatric performances to their recent Blue Ribbon School of Excellence national distinction, Legacy is synonymous with "success." That's why the stack of admissions applications grows each year; parents know a good thing when they see it.

"But," says Legacy Co-founder and Director of Educational Oversight Donna Borruel, "today's parents also want to know that not only is their child going to be provided with the most outstanding educational experience available, but that the environment is a joyful one that emphasizes character building. When I give customized tours, one of the most often commented-upon parts of the experience is just how happy Legacy students are to be here - and how kind and respectful they are to their peers, their teachers and themselves."

It's a balance that is deeply intentional. The line Legacy leadership is able to walk - fusing accelerated academics, a STEAM emphasis that is so embedded in the culture that the school is affectionately called "Legacy Tech," outstanding cultural and artistic enrichment programs, massively-successful athletic opportunities, character building, and above all else, growing learners' love of Christ - is nothing short of remarkable.

Legacy administration wouldn't have it any other way. "As prep, boarding and university admission becomes even more competitive, and scholarship dollars continue to dwindle, parents are seeking opportunities to give their children the best chance at a successful future. That means investing early in their child's schooling to develop the skills, abilities and knowledge that will carry them through high school, college and beyond," says Co-founder and Superintendent Tim Borruel. "Parents recognize that their child is more likely to get a scholarship or admission to an incredibly-competitive program if their child began practicing habits for success - and building problem-solving skills and confidence - at a younger age. Our students are positioned for advanced placement in math, science, foreign language and more in high school, which directly correlates to increased admission rates and scholarships for college."

Legacy's Head of School Matt Millett agrees. "Today's parents are very sophisticated; they understand that college performance can be affected by the culture and curriculum of their child's elementary school. It's a balancing act; Legacy offers accelerated curriculum and the most diversified quality enrichment programs while cultivating a Christian-character-building culture. When we say that Legacy is an investment worth making, we're not just talking about test scores and college admissions. We're talking about investments in a child's heart and happiness, too."

Legacy Christian is Going Full STEAM Ahead
New Innovation & Science Labs are Game Changers

Wander down the new Discovery Hall at Legacy Christian Academy and your eye will be drawn to too many remarkable things to count. From exceptional student artwork to live animals in grand terrariums and aquariums built right into the wall and state-of-the-art technology that makes an Apple store look quaint, the space vibrantly communicates that, at Legacy, Science/Technology/Engineering/Art/Mathematics (STEAM) is serious business.

Last year, Legacy launched their already-renowned Innovation Lab - a space so remarkable in its design and utility that leaders from other regional schools asked for tours. Home to the Academy's robotics enrichment class and competitive team, the Innovation Lab is where every Legacy student receives instruction on today's top technology - and education on how to use it safely and ethically. Learners learn Microsoft Word - and how to build a computer from the ground up. Every project assigned in the space takes full advantage of the opportunities the Innovation Lab provides for collaboration, problem solving and ingenuity, thanks to the multi-functional design, write-on walls, research-university-level tech and more.

In 2017, Legacy students returned to a campus that now, in addition to the Innovation Lab, boasts a brand-new Science Lab, too. This space provides an immersive visual and auditory experience that replicates the environments students are learning about in real time, as well as full access to state-of-the-art lab equipment that reveals science facts. When coupled with Legacy's academically-accelerated curriculum that cultivates a pragmatic, critically-engaged, forward-thinking understanding of the world in which we live, the Science Lab is a game changer for Legacy learners. Tours of Discovery Hall, home of Legacy's Science and Innovation Labs, are available year-round.
