Legacy Christian Academy Releases 2017 Annual Report
Highlights Include Top 9-percent SAT-10 Test Scores

Legacy Christian Academy, a non-profit organization, recently released their 20-page annual report. The booklet, available for public perusal, highlights the Academy's many "wins" over the school year. The highlight of this annual report is the Valencia campus's completion of Discovery Hall, Legacy's new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) wing that incorporates both the completely-remodeled, dedicated-space Innovation and Science Labs.

"The comprehensive education at Legacy Christian that unifies academic achievement, cultural enrichment, personal development and spiritual care within an intentionally-Biblical environment has been transformational for our children and our family."
Joe & Heidi Keller
Also in the report: a summary of the Academy's national ranking on the SAT-10 tests, long considered the best way to measure academic excellence on a country-wide scale. Legacy again placed in the top 9 percent of all participating public and private schools in the United States.

The booklet's features on Legacy's new science teacher, a former AP physics instructor; Discovery Hall's aquariums, terrariums and expansive lab resources; the computer teacher's methods for introducing technology skills at an early age; and more will be especially interesting to parents who recognize the importance of a STEAM education. "STEAM curriculum and programming empower our young theorists with hands-on critical thinking opportunities. Here, they can take measured risks, weigh outcomes and work collaboratively to solve real-world problems. We're not just 'teaching to a test' at Legacy; we are putting real technology like 3D printers and high-quality lab equipment into the newly-educated hands of children who learn, every day, that they have the power to make a real, positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others," says Matt Millett, Legacy's head of school.

Legacy's annual report can be obtained by request, or during a customized tour of the kinder-through-eighth campus. "Visiting parents have an opportunity to see how an accelerated curriculum, coupled with Christ-like character building and a loving, nurturing team of teachers can make a lasting impact on their children - and their entire family," says Millett.

SCVi Welcomes Acclaimed New School Director
SCVi Charter School is welcoming a new school director to its tuition-free transitional-kinder-to-12 campus for the 2018-19 school year: Farnaz "Nazzi" Kaufman, who comes with 20 years of educational experience as a teacher, founding charter petitioner and school director. Early in her career, Kaufman was a teacher at Carpenter Community Charter, an LAUSD affiliated charter school. She also served as curriculum committee chair, LEARN and governance board member, lead teacher, gifted and talented student coordinator and PTA teacher representative.
Prior to working in education, Kaufman's focus was environmental science. The recipient of an Army scholarship, she received her master's degree in Earth and planetary sciences from The Johns Hopkins University while earning her commission as an officer in the US Army Chemical Corps. Kaufman is an expert on differentiated curriculum and specializes in teaching highly-gifted and twice-exceptional students. She conducts trainings for educators and parents on a regular basis.
Most recently, Kaufman has served as school director at iLEAD Encino, a sister campus to SCVi. Kaufman said she is eager to work at iLEAD's founding school, SCVi, and bring her knowledge and support to its staff and families.
