Legacy Christian Academy Named a 2016 "Best Christian Workplace"
The accolades keep on coming for Legacy Christian Academy, which, in 2015, was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education and was also voted "Best Christian School" again in Santa Clarita.
Legacy was one of only 62 faith-based organizations in the United States, Canada and Australia to receive the certified distinction at the start of the New Year, which is bestowed by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute (BCWI).
The organization's FLOURISH Model measures eight essential factors for a thriving, healthy Christian culture: fantastic teams, life-giving work, outstanding talent, uplifting growth, rewarding compensation, inspirational leadership, sustainable strategy and healthy communication.
Legacy's Certified status reflects a "healthy-to-flourishing" culture, meeting predetermined standards of excellence on each of these eight factors. BCWI pioneered and perfected the anonymous, online employee survey instrument that compiles and calibrates individuals' responses. "Attaining BCWI Certification is not easy," says BCWI President Al Lopus. "About half of the organizations we survey achieve Certification and many organizations survey multiple years before receiving this distinction."
"We're honored to be named a 'Best Christian Workplace,'" says Legacy Co-founder and Superintendent Tim Borruel. "Since the beginning, we have sought to not only cultivate the hearts of our students for Christ, but to nurture our staff's faith in Him as well." The campus community, in conjunction with an academically-accelerated curriculum, is rich with Christian-character building experiences like Heartwork "homework," weekly Chapel, ministry to local and international communities, the establishment and ongoing support of Legacy Christian Uganda and much more.
Legacy is celebrating record-breaking enrollment this year, with 425 kinder-through-eighth students. Call today for a customized tour of the campus and classrooms. 257-7377
"Little Women" to Feature Charter School's Theater Students
The theater students of SCVi Charter School are presenting a special production of the classic Broadway musical, "Little Women." "If what we're seeing in rehearsals is any indication, our audience is in for a real treat," said Kevin Story, SCVi's theater arts facilitator. "We have some very talented young performers at SCVi and they are bringing everything they've got to this production."
SCVi, the founding campus of iLEAD Schools, places a strong emphasis on the arts as part of its project-based curriculum that's designed to help students prepare for their future roles as leaders, thinkers, problem solvers and, for some, performers.
SCVi Theatre Arts will present "Little Women" in its highly-acclaimed Broadway musical form. The story of bravery and sisterhood set during the Civil War era will be told featuring talented ninth-through 12th-grade performers from SCVi's upper school.
Shows are scheduled at 7pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 24 to March 26. There will also be a 3pm matinee on
Saturday, March 26. Tickets are available online at ticketriver.com/event/18848 and more information is available by visiting theatre.scvi-k12.org.

Sunshine Learning Centers Offer Half-day Options
Half-day pre-school and transitional-kindergarten programs are available at Sunshine Learning Centers! This is a great option for families who don't need childcare but still want to ensure that their little learner is ready socially, emotionally and academically for kindergarten.
The half-day program operates on the traditional academic school year calendar for family convenience; your kiddo will have fall, winter and spring breaks (At no charge, of course!).
Your child will benefit from low student-teacher ratios, small class sizes, a fun focus on academics, socialization and character education. Join in for "3s" on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Monday, Wednesday and Friday for "4's" (pre-kinder). This progression prepares kids for five-day-a-week kindergarten.
