Legacy Christian Academy Releases
2015 Annual Report
Campus Celebrates Record-breaking Enrollment & Blue Ribbon School Status
Legacy Christian Academy, a 501-c3 nonprofit organization, recently released its 2015 annual report. In the impressive 20-page booklet, the Academy highlights the year's remarkable statistics and accolades. Included in the report is news of the Academy's record-breaking 2015-16 enrollment; 425 kinder-through-middle-school Academy students currently benefit from the campus' academically-accelerated curriculum and Christian culture. Also in the report: a remarkable summary of the year's big local and regional competition wins, including taking Gold at the Science Olympiad at Occidental College. (The elementary-school team just did it again for the sixth time in 2016!).
Readers will get an up-close look at how the campus's Christian character building takes shape through annually-themed weekly Chapel events and extensive investment in the Legacy Christian Uganda site as well as enjoy a glance at the high-energy Academy experiences hosted by Legacy's ASB. A behind-the-scenes glimpse at Legacy's impactful differentiated Science curriculum - with classes held in the Academy's state-of-the-art dedicated classroom lab - is also offered for review.
Perhaps the most remarkable highlight of the 2015 Annual Report is the feature on Legacy's recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The prestigious award from the Department of Education recognized the Academy for superior teaching, test scores, foreign-language emphasis, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) programming, 13:1 student-to-teacher elementary-campus ratio; character development and more.
The Academy's annual report is available for public review. You may request a copy at the front desk or obtain one during your customized campus tour. Legacy Christian Academy 257-7377
SCVi Charter School Holds Lottery on March 25
All around us we hear about the value of technology, project-based learning, deeper learning, new brain research and a better understanding of how kids - or any of us, for that matter - really learn. At Santa Clarita Valley International (SCVi), they've built a model based on what they believe to be the best of all that is out there. They believe passionately in project-based learning not because it's a fad but because it goes to the heart of how kids learn. SCVi has incorporated technology not as a spiffy add-on but as an organic part of the learning process in the 21st century. They value and encourage leadership not just as a part of a career track but by instilling in each learner the confidence and character that inspire others. It's not unusual that they want learners to think for themselves. But to do this requires a grounding in the arts, in design and in humanities - and the need to feel at home in the world. At SCVi, "thinking for yourself" is not just about solving problems but about an organic vision of the world your child lives in and the one they will inherit. Finally, SCVi values the social and emotional development of learners. They believe there is an implicit, as well as an explicit, curriculum to teach. Their goal is nothing short of learning - to change the world. Tours are offered weekly at the TK-12 campus on Tuesdays at 9am. Call to reserve your spot in the lottery. 705-4820
