"Legacy Christian Academy has been an amazing gift to our family! We knew it was a great school before our children began attending five years ago, but we had no idea how much we would grow to love the people of Legacy. The Borruels, the administration and all of the staff truly go above and beyond to teach and love on our children. The network of parents, students and staff can truly be commended for their continued love and support of our family.

We feel so fortunate for the opportunity our children have each and every day to attend a national Blue Ribbon school that excels in every aspect of education. However, we are most thankful for the Biblical foundation that is given the utmost priority in the molding and shaping of our children's hearts. It is so great to partner with a school that proclaims and demonstrates the love of Jesus!
It is an honor and joy to be part of the Legacy family!" Jason & Kellie Davenport

Legacy's STEAM Focus
Empowers Students to Become Innovative Problem Solvers
You may be wondering about the advantages of adding "Art" to the much-lauded STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum and programming at Legacy Christian Academy. "Today's STEAM focus is an evolution of STEM," says Tim Borruel, co-founder and superintendent of Legacy. "We already have an incredible, differentiated Arts program at Legacy - one that includes musical, dramatic, classical and multi-media Art education. What is different now is how, through specialized faculty development based on research and study of best practices across the country, Art has been incorporated into our STEAM focus."
It's an important addition. Hundreds of millions of dollars in grant funds have recently been allocated to STEAM programs because studies have shown Art to be an essential component of STEM's primary contributions to cognitive development - namely, critical thinking, problem solving and innovation.
"You can have access to all the STEM education available on the planet, but if you don't add creativity to the process, you don't have the ability to think abstractly. Art adds the necessary ingredients for outside-the-box, creative thinking; it's what drives innovation and invention. STEAM education at Legacy isn't just preparing students for success in high school and college. It's laying the groundwork for happiness, success and fulfillment in our students' future careers - and life," says Legacy Head of School Matt Millett.
"Our learners are problem solvers who are given the tools - via our new Discovery Hall, Science and Innovation Labs, 3D printer, differentiated classes and more - to truly create new things. A quality Arts education, in conjunction with STEAM, empowers them to better translate what they dream up into reality. It fuses the technical with the creative, which is a powerful combination," says Borruel.
"The goal, always, is for our students to have the very best, well-rounded, accelerated educational experience. STEAM is a big part of that; it's the future! It also makes STEM more accessible to every child. The addition of Art to our STEM focus provides an entry point for students who may otherwise be intimidated or less interested in STEM. It empowers our faculty to utilize new, interesting and highly-engaging methods to teach STEM fundamentals. At Legacy, we're full 'STEAM' ahead!" says Donna Borruel, co-founder and Legacy's director of educational oversight.

Get to Know SCVi Charter School
Primary services offered: Transitional kindergarten through high school
Educational philosophy: As the founding campus of iLEAD Schools, SCVi has brought innovation and project-based learning to the Santa Clarita Valley. They prepare learners to lead, succeed and thrive in a rapidly-changing world. SCVi emphasizes learning experiences with real-world applications, placing a strong emphasis on international learning, leadership, entrepreneurial development, arts and design.
Current classes/sessions/learning opportunities: SCVi has limited opportunities available for learners in most grade levels.
At SCVi, learning moves from concept to action. For example, teams of SCVi students worked together to design science experiments to be performed in space - and one of those experiments was chosen from a national field of competitors to be flown and performed aboard the International Space Station.
Starting in 11th grade, SCVi learners may take IB courses (International Baccalaureate)
which are advanced and challenging. When admissions officers see these courses on transcripts, they know that the learners are prepared for the rigor of college and university courses.
SCVi's learners engage with the world around them. For example: A group of SCVi learners were inspired to give something back to their community, to spread kindness and good cheer. Thus was formed the #inspirationgeneration program, in which SCVi learners perform acts of kindness in the community.
SCVi is celebrating their 10-year anniversary. Call for a complimentary tour of the campus, conveniently located on Hasley Canyon in Castaic. 705-4820
