Engaging Young Artists
Art creates common ground where we can learn to connect with each other through shared interests - and right now it feels like art is all we need. For kids, an arts education is especially important. Studies show performance art can help kids express themselves, build confidence, make friends, understand the world around them - and feel like the star of their own world. Many kids even experience a stronger academic performance in tandem, as well. There's never been a better time to call "Action!" on your kids silver screen dreams.
When it comes to arts education for kids, the Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts (SCSOPA) is our local legend with a national name in the entertainment industry. Not only do students enjoy great success in landing auditions, but they also experience the larger benefits of an arts community. SCSOPA teaches each student "life skills" in the fields of presentation, memorization, self-esteem, confidence, public speaking, projection and much more. SCSOPA students say these programs not only get them in front of agents weekly, but also help them prosper in their school environment.
But the benefits aren't just academic. The arts offer a place where your child can come to feel really good at something - a place where they can belong. SCSOPA welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and from all walks of life. Their programs are designed to nurture a supportive, positive atmosphere conducive to the level of collaboration required to be successful in the entertainment business. As a result, they've created an environment that promotes personal development and learning over competition.
SCSOPA is currently open and accepting new students. Class sizes are limited to 10 students - giving kids an even more individualized teaching experience - as well as Zoom classes. Start your child's journey today.

Kids ages 6 years and older can ride - making it the perfect meet-up for those friends they haven't seen in awhile. And all that fresh air and adventure will leave them smiling for days to come. Plus , the equestrian center is located just one mile north of Copper Hill Drive - even though it feels like it's miles away. Escape as a family, or drop off the kids for a lesson.

It can be so hard to peel kids away from their devices - but at GlowHouse Gaming technology is used as a tool to learn, build valuable skills, explore creativity and connect with other kids their age. Rather than fighting it, this summer lean into your kids' interests and passions by giving them a safe space to turn their interests into a passion and their solo gaming days into a supportive peer community. Get a weekly pass for Summer Days at GlowHouse Gaming, and give your kids 6 hours a day of engaging activities and friendly fun, including open play gaming stations, movie showings, private livestream studio time and more. While your kids are expanding their understanding of technology and making new friends, you can rest assured that they're playing safely. GlowHouse is taking the maximum precautions and safety measures - from masks and socially distanced gaming to increased sanitation and personal-use controllers. Kids can be kids again at GlowHouse Gaming Summer Days - and they get to do it their way.

by Cinnamon the Cat

Have you heard? We're letting the cat out of the bag ... Pet Supplies Plus is hosting an all-out Grand Opening weekend from August 8-9, and all the cool cats are going to be there! It's time to bust out your finest coat, fasten that bowtie collar you got for Christmas and practice your strut because - word on the street is - there's some serious competition on the catwalk. MEOW!
All species are showing up for the Santa Clarita pet community's biggest event of the year - from birds and guinea pigs to reptiles and fish. (Reminder to all Cats: Fish are friends; though tuna may be on the dinner menu if your human gets you the good stuff.) They'll even have equine supplies on hand soon, too.
But that's not all - pooches get complimentary nail trims on Sunday, and of course, there will be prizes and giveaways! You don't want to miss the social event of the season, so make sure you mark your human's calendar. They need all the help they can get these days.
