More Moms are Booking their own
Dental Appointments After Last Issue of Inside SCV
"Last month, we shared in Inside SCV that our dental practice sees a lot of families - and that moms often schedule their children's and partner's dental appointments, while forgetting to book their own," says office manager of Dr. Marvin Tong, DDS's Valencia office, Becky Short. "Ever since that article ran, we've had more moms calling and joking, 'Was that about me!?' So our goal for April is to see more moms booking their own cleanings and checkups. It's time to make your health a priority too, Mom!"
"Moms have unique dental needs," explains Dr. Marvin Tong, DDS. "Pregnancy and nursing put moms at a higher risk for tooth decay - a growing baby places a lot of demands on a mother's calcium stores. Every member of the family should be seen by their dentist twice a year, but moms should be especially encouraged to prioritize those appointments."
"As a mom myself, I absolutely understand how it can be hard to put anything for yourself on the calendar. That's why we offer convenient Saturday appointments and are very conscientious about your time in our office," says Short.

"There are not enough words to describe how incredible the Santa Clarita School of Performing Arts is. My son is 3 years old and asks every day, 'Is it acting class day yet?' We have a countdown until it is time to go! Mike, Cindy and Miriam are the most friendly, helpful and sweet people you will ever meet. They feel like they are your family! In just weeks of being in the awesome fashion show and attending the classes with fabulous teachers, my son got an agent. The confidence, poise and joy my son has learned from SCSOPA in just five months at a young age is unbelievable. Everyone should be a part of this school! We love you all!"

Your Water Safety Reminder
Reading this could Save a Life
Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 5 in California and the second leading cause for children under the age of 14. Follow the Safer 3, created by the Stop Drowning Now Foundation, to help reduce these heartbreaking statistics.
Safer Water
Put upper locks on doors leading to pools or other bodies of water in your yard, be sure to lock pet doors and put fences around pools, covers on spas and pool alarms that sound when the surface water has been broken.
Safer Kids
Educate children to never go in or around water without an adult supervisor and how to call 9-1-1. Teach your children how to swim, especially how to float on their backs with their clothes on.
Safer Response
Learn CPR, so that if you ever do have to rescue your child from the bottom of the pool, crucial minutes are not lost while waiting for emergency responders.
