Community, Culture & Adventure Drive the Mission of Camp Kahili
Students who will be entering seventh to 12th grade in the fall of 2020 are invited to travel to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Kaua'i this summer for Camp Kahili.
Culture Campers will discover the unique and diverse culture of Hawaii and the island of Kaua'i through hands-on learning experiences taught by local educators.

Adventure Students will participate in a number of activities and excursions, including beach days, surfing and standup paddle boarding, ziplining, tubing, hiking and more.
There are four weeks available to campers - your child can opt to stay for one, two, three or all four weeks. Camps run June 21 to June 27; June 28 to July 4; July 5 to July 11 and July 12 to July 18.

What to Consider when Selecting a Camp for your Child

When selecting a camp for your child, there are several factors to be considered - interests and camp philosophies, hours and activities and more. The most important factor, however, should be the focus on your camper's safety and overall experience. To ensure that you are selecting a quality camp, parents should first look at camps that are accredited by the American Camp Association. These camps follow, meet or exceed over 300 standards that relate to safety, program and camper growth.
Regardless of the type of program that you choose for your camper, here are a few good questions to ask: What is your camper to counselor ratio? How are your staff hired, screened and trained? How long has the camp director lead the program? What is the camper return rate? How will my camper grow from their experience at your program?

If you are looking for a camp that takes professionalism to another level, parents should look for camps that are a member of the Western Association of Independent Camps. These camps are not only accredited by the American Camp Association but have taken the extra steps to gain membership in WAIC. WAIC camps tend to be forward thinking and progressive when it comes to camper development, focusing on 21st-century skills, personal growth and professionalism in the camp industry.
Valley Trails Summer Camp has been operating for the past 52 year and is an accredited camp program and a member of WAIC. valleytrails.com
