J.K. Rowling changed my life. In second grade, I read just as much as everyone else, maybe even less. My mom and my grandma love to read, so they were always buying new books for me. One day, my mom bought me the first Harry Potter book. As I started to read the first few pages, I could not put it down. I pulled up a chair and was instantly enchanted by the world of witches and wizards. In two weeks' time, I had finished the first four books in the Harry Potter series and realized how spectacular reading is.
Reading brings you into other worlds and gives you a different perspective on life. After reading the Harry Potter series, I was never the same. Now, four years later I love to read. In fact, I cannot live without books. My bookcase is overflowing and my inventory is still increasing. My parents claim that I could open my own used books store!
Finally, the sixth Harry Potter book is here! Full of new twists, turns, clues, and suspicions. The war against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort continues with the election of the Minister of Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour. As usual, Hogwarts opens in the fall with an even bigger dose of security, mainly consisting of Aurors and members of the Order of the Phoenix.
Professor Dumbledore escorts Harry from his home at Number Four Privet Drive to The Burrow (his best friend's house). Along the way, Harry convinces an old wizard to accept a teaching job at Hogwarts. Once at Hogwarts, Harry borrows a used potions textbook. The previous owner, someone by the name of Half Blood Prince, had rewritten potion instructions in the margins, helping Harry achieve a fabulous potions reputation. Meanwhile, Professor Dumbledore has required that Harry take private lessons with him, learning about Lord Voldemort's past and the key to destroying him once and for all.
One night, Harry goes with Dumbledore to destroy the third of Voldemort's horcruxes (a piece of his soul). In order to get the horcrux, Dumbledore drinks an unknown potion and becomes ill. Harry apparates (moved him quickly from place to place) Dumbledore back to Hogwarts, where disaster struck. Seeing the dark mark (signal of death) above the school, Dumbledore immobilized Harry under his invisibility cloak before the professor's wand was taken from him and a group of Death Eaters emerged from the castle...You'll have to read the story yourself to find out what happens next!
I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who has already read the first five books. This new story is very original, yet ties in well with the other stories. If you have not read the Harry Potter series, I advise you to visit the nearest bookstore or library ASAP.
