Gift the Family with Membership to SCV's Only Tennis/Fitness/Swim Club
If you haven't dropped by The Paseo Club recently, you may want to add the intersection of Newhall Ranch Road and Dickason Drive to your Google Maps. Santa Clarita's only Tennis/Fitness/Swim Club has undergone a major fitness revamp, dramatically increasing the size and scope of its workout facility and curriculum. As many as 70 group fitness classes per week comprise The Paseo Club's exercise calendar, including yoga, cycling and Pilates.
But state-of-the-art equipment and Group-Ex classes alone do not define The Paseo Club - not when Santa Clarita's preeminent tennis facility boasts 15 lighted tennis courts, several converted for Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the country. If swimming is your forte, a 25-yard competition pool awaits you for lap swim, learn-to-swim classes, Masters swim, a USA-Sanctioned Junior Swim Team and recreational member use. Friday nights are even capped with Dive-In Movie Night (Seasonal.) for the kids! And speaking of the kids - don't overlook one of the club's most valuable amenities - the Paseo Club Kids Corner. Enjoy your time at the club knowing your children are in safe, secure hands with certified daycare specialists on staff to entertain and watch over our youngest members. At the Paseo Club, they believe fitness is a lifestyle - and that lifestyle should include choices - from exercise and recreational options to downtime and social activities. Their calendar is packed with date night and family-fun options. Several membership options are available - and more affordable than you realize.

Q&A with Results Fitness Co-owner & International
"Trainer of Trainers" Rachel Cosgrove

How has the way you measure your strength changed over the years?
Approaching 45 years old, I want to be able to continue to do the things I love to do. I never want to be limited by my physical capabilities.

Your gym is filled with people from every walk of life and fitness level - what's the commonality when it comes to strength and strength training?
The feeling of being strong translates into the rest of your life. Lifting weights and getting strong leads to more confidence and empowerment. The people who work out at Results see their strength when they help their loved ones, pick up their kids, travel and explore new things in so many areas of their life.

What's your "strength" philosophy when it comes to every client?
Being strong will decrease your risk of injury, boost your metabolism, decrease your risk of diseases including osteoporosis and improve your ability to function in daily activities. Over 40 this becomes even more important.

You're a well-known badass entrepreneur, consultant, trainer of trainers - how does what you do in the gym affect what you do professionally?
Confidence. Women for so many years throughout our life have been told - "You can't." You can't lift too heavy - you'll get big and bulky. You can't do a regular push up, do a "girl" push up. There was even a time when women were told not to run. We're flipping that dialogue from, "You can't" to "You can!" That's what strength training does. This is also the mindset I bring to my career. I'm one of the only women speaking at many of the conferences I present at. I can.

There's an assumption that you can be "too old" for strength training.

Research has shown that you can actually continue to gain strength at any age. It's so important as you age to be as strong as possible to be able to stay independent and do everything that you want to do.

What have you seen clients change thanks to strength training?
They drop body fat, gain strength, do things they never thought they could, they come off medications, their blood pressure drops, they have less anxiety and less stress. They are overall happier people enjoying life!

Improve "Tech Neck" & More with Rollology
Today, many of us fall victim to holding our head forward and flexed down looking at our smart phones and laptops, causing things such as tech neck, hunch backs and muscle strain on our neck, shoulders and upper body.
Whether we are at the office or simply just looking at our devices, this action is causing us to lean forward and look down, bringing the weight of our head into a position that creates the head to be heavier than it should if aligned properly.
This prolonged, repetitive posture is putting strain on our bodies, resulting in long-term detriments and is contributing to growing a Dowager's Hump before you're 40 years old.

The Rollology Method
The Rollology foam roller can reduce the effects of Tech Neck and can combat the ill effects of this bad posture that can potentially cause long-term damage to the body. Rollology is a Pilates-based workout class that utilizes a foam roller. The Rollology method teaches the body to go back into neutral spine while engaging the core to help support the spine, neck and head. Most of the exercises are done in alignment with the head stacked properly on the body. This strengthens the neck muscles along with the shoulders to help prevent the head from coming forward - the root cause of Tech Neck. In addition to strengthening, Rollology stretches your body to make the neck, head and shoulders more flexible. This makes it possible to do everyday activities and sports with ease and reduced pain.
Pilates Pros+ studio is a certified Rollology provider.
