Tennis, Massage Therapy and Pharmacy Tech Programs Now Available at COC
Massage Therapy and Pharmacy Technician Programs
This spring, Community Education at College of the Canyons is offering two new training programs as an alternative to traditional college classes. Students can complete a pharmacy technician program in 27 weeks (beginning January 24) or a massage therapy program in 17 weeks (beginning February 21).
The pharmacy technician (RX Tech) and massage therapist programs are offered in collaboration with Boston Reed College and are designed for working adults. The RX Tech program costs $2,295 and the massage therapist training program costs $2,190. The fee includes books, consumable supplies and an externship that provides real-world, practical experience in each field. Students must be at least 18 years of age and must have a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to externship placement;

Community Education Tennis Program
On Saturday, January 24, the college will host a Tennis Block Party from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. SCV residents are invited to see the new tennis facility at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus, meet the tennis professionals - Coach Vicki Sanchez and Coach Kent Ganevsky - and play some fun games. Participants can talk to the pros and learn more about the various lesson programs and upcoming tennis camps.
The adult tennis program will begin with a mixer event for local tennis players aged 55 and over, hosted by Coach Vicki. "Active Adult Tennis Players 55+" meets the fourth Friday evening each month beginning January 23. Participants may sign up with or without a partner and must be able to play a social game of tennis.
"Friday Night Tennis" meets the first and third Friday evenings every month beginning January 16. Persons aged 14 and older are invited to register for competitive games and match play. All levels of experience are welcome. This event is a weekly sign up, and is limited to the first 12 players to sign up. No instruction will be provided, but the event will be organized and supervised by Coach Kent.
On Saturday, January 24, "Cardio Tennis" will be held. This is a high-energy, fast-paced workout with lots of opportunities to hit plenty of tennis balls. All levels are welcome.
Junior tennis lessons, broken into age-appropriate groups, are available for children ages 4 to 18 and are offered in eight week increments. A first-ever spring break tennis camp will also be offered for high school tennis and tournament tennis players ages 14 to 18.

Massage Therapy and Pharmacy Technician Programs
This spring, Community Education at College of the Canyons is offering two new training programs as an alternative to traditional college classes. Students can complete a pharmacy technician program in 27 weeks (beginning January 24) or a massage therapy program in 17 weeks (beginning February 21).
The pharmacy technician (RX Tech) and massage therapist programs are offered in collaboration with Boston Reed College and are designed for working adults. The RX Tech program costs $2,295 and the massage therapist training program costs $2,190. The fee includes books, consumable supplies and an externship that provides real-world, practical experience in each field. Students must be at least 18 years of age and must have a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to externship placement;

Community Education Tennis Program
On Saturday, January 24, the college will host a Tennis Block Party from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. SCV residents are invited to see the new tennis facility at the College of the Canyons Valencia campus, meet the tennis professionals - Coach Vicki Sanchez and Coach Kent Ganevsky - and play some fun games. Participants can talk to the pros and learn more about the various lesson programs and upcoming tennis camps.
The adult tennis program will begin with a mixer event for local tennis players aged 55 and over, hosted by Coach Vicki. "Active Adult Tennis Players 55+" meets the fourth Friday evening each month beginning January 23. Participants may sign up with or without a partner and must be able to play a social game of tennis.
"Friday Night Tennis" meets the first and third Friday evenings every month beginning January 16. Persons aged 14 and older are invited to register for competitive games and match play. All levels of experience are welcome. This event is a weekly sign up, and is limited to the first 12 players to sign up. No instruction will be provided, but the event will be organized and supervised by Coach Kent.
On Saturday, January 24, "Cardio Tennis" will be held. This is a high-energy, fast-paced workout with lots of opportunities to hit plenty of tennis balls. All levels are welcome.
Junior tennis lessons, broken into age-appropriate groups, are available for children ages 4 to 18 and are offered in eight week increments. A first-ever spring break tennis camp will also be offered for high school tennis and tournament tennis players ages 14 to 18.
