Dr. Alon Antebi, DO
Board Certified Orthopaedic Trauma and Joint Reconstruction Surgeon
March, 2015 - Issue #125
One of Southern California's Finest Orthopaedic Surgeons Calls SCV home

Dr. Antebi, co-founder of AVORS, was born in Israel, raised in South Florida, and has lived in Santa Clarita for the past 10 years. He earned his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University, his Orthopaedic residency from Botsford General Hospital (a Michigan State affiliate), and his Orthopaedic trauma fellowship from Tampa General Hospital.

Over the past 10 years, Dr. Antebi has successfully performed thousands of orthopaedic surgeries, some of which include total hip and knee replacements, arthroscopic surgeries, and both simple and complex fracture care. Dr. Antebi's philosophy stems from a simple idea: MOTION IS KEY. When patients usually undergo an orthopaedic procedure such as hip or knee surgery, they are forced to adhere to general hospital practices. Dr. Antebi urges his patients to get up and walk as early as three hours post-operation.

In 2008, Dr. Antebi was the first surgeon in the Antelope Valley to perform anterior hip replacement surgery, and is excited to be the first orthopaedic surgeon to bring this innovative technique to the Santa Clarita Valley. He has performed more than 1,000 of these hip procedures. This minimally invasive procedure is done through a three-to-four inch incision. Entering from the front of the hip eliminates the need to cut the gluteus maximus, the largest muscle in the body. This expedites healing, reduces pain, and enables a quicker recovery. "The anterior approach is less invasive," says Dr. Antebi. "Rather than cutting the muscle, we move it out of the way. Therefore there is less soft tissue damage and less risk for dislocation and leg length discrepancies." The surgeon uses the latest in multimodal pain modalities prior to and during surgery to further reduce pain for his patients.
Other orthopaedic surgeons in the community often refer their complex cases to Dr. Antebi, because he is the only fellowship trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon to treat pelvis and acetabulum fractures, as well as other complex fractures, in the Santa Clarita Valley,
San Fernando Valley, and Antelope Valley.

Dr. Antebi is currently on staff at Providence Holy Cross Hospital, Henry Mayo Hospital, Palmdale Regional Medical Center, and Antelope Valley Hospital. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast, who enjoys mountain biking, skiing, and boating in his free time. He lives in Canyon Country with his wife and two kids.
