Are You Ready for Some Football?
The Big Game is on Sunday, February 5

Score a Touchdown with Decor
by Tami Smight ASID

I'm going to be honest; I don't have a clue what teams are in contention for the Super Bowl. Actually, I wasn't even sure of the exact date (I looked it up: Sunday, February 5!). I do know that Super Bowl Sunday is the second-largest day for U.S. food consumption, after Thanksgiving Day. Clearly, on this un-official American holiday, people eat... a lot!

As an interior designer, my passion is creativity, so what I enjoy most on Super Bowl Sunday are the TV commercials and the party planning! Although many of your party guests may know the words to "All my Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight," a sports-themed party does not have to be a sloppy one.

Whether you are hosting a gathering for two or 20, here are some great ideas that are sure to kick-off your party to a great start.

Invite guests to arrive about one hour before kick-off. Set up a buffet in an area with good traffic flow. Here are some elements that will make your party a winner.

Buffet Markers
Print out on colorful paper and place in team-colored frames.
1st Down: drinks
2nd Down: appetizers
Touch Down: dessert

Astroturf Table Runner
This will provide a clean, stable backdrop for a variety of crowd-pleasing snacks and drinks. You can add white tape to denote the yard lines if you feel adventurous.

Table Centerpiece
A galvanized steel tray filled with wheatgrass, mini football players, goalposts and referees creates a tabletop playing field to give your table game!

Colorful Food Display
Keep your menu simple and score big with a large tureen of chili with cornbread on the sidelines. For a game-winning touchdown, offer cupcakes in team colors with team flags or miniature footballs.
