What You didn't Know about Castaic Lake Water Agency
• The Castaic Lake Water Agency is a public water wholesaler that provides about half of the water that Santa Clarita households and businesses use. CLWA is one of 29 State Water Project contractors and receives water imported from the State Water Project in Northern California as well as other sources of imported water through the California Aqueduct.

• CLWA operates three large treatment plants, three major pump stations, three water storagefacilities and over 45 miles of large diameter transmission pipelines delivering water to four local water retailers.

• In 1991, the Agency held a Ground "Blasting" ceremony for the Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant and Conservation Garden. Construction of the Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant was completed (30 million gallons per day capacity) and put into service in 1995. The Plant was expanded in 2009 and by 2011 construction was completed increasing the capacity to 66 million gallons per day total capacity.

• The Agency, along with SunPower Corporation, completed a 1-megawatt photovoltaic solar plant (December 2011) and a 3.5-megawatt photovoltaic solar plant (November 2014). The combined output from each plant is expected to offset about a third of the energy used at all facilities owned by CLWA and SCWD. Both solar plants are located at the agency's Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant. It is the biggest solar generation facility in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.
