A Home that's Perfectly Yours
September, 2017 - Issue #156

If you have ever dreamed of a home that is "perfectly yours," you know that striking the ideal balance between budget, style preferences, space limitations, utility needs and more can be quite the trial. It's often harder than it looks! But don't get discouraged. Take your home-improvement project one room (One corner, even!) at a time. Find something you love for another space? Grab it - and then stash it! The goal is to make your transformation one that is manageable and... fun!

Designer Tips
Blend Traditional & Modern Aesthetics for a New Look

The vision for the kitchen was to keep the traditional elements but add modern-looking character. The quartz countertop and the timeless creme honed-travertine subway tile backsplash brought the concept to life and neutral paint with a hint of grey strikes the perfect balance between "old and new." Frosted glass and nickel hardware add a touch of glam and pendants with bronze details accent the grand island.

Create Contrast to Tease the Eye
Fresh white wainscoting pops against the midnight-blue wall color above. The crystal chandelier over the custom wood dining table, as well as the brass accents, introduce a sense of fun.

Designer Tips
Add Surprising Elements
A slip-covered sofa and deep-tufted settee provide a traditional touch while wood and metal open shelving offer texture and dimension to the space. A true Indian rug is the perfect balance to bring it all together while adding surprising color.

Leave No Space Untouched
Brass hooks and wood benches add plenty of interest to an otherwise-simplistic space.

Play with Contrast
The light-colored console with a metal top and high-back wing chair plays perfectly with the dark banister with white rails.

Designer Tips
Make Communal Spaces Comfortable for Everyone

Kid-friendly fabric covers the custom sectional, which has style and comfort to spare for the large family. The handcrafted wood coffee table, patterned rug and metal and crystal chandelier add eye interest to the space.

When it Comes to Details, Go Big
This is a perfect reading nook, complete with custom chairs and metal side table. The oversized wall clock is flanked by symmetrical white frames.
