In the eight years that Kinley Farrow has lived in her Happy Valley home, she's managed to create 2,500 square feet of pure designer bliss. From hand-beaded details on pillows to flawless faux-finished walls, her home is her personal work of art, a labor of love.

On the bottom floor, old-world Renaissance is seamlessly combined with traditional pieces and colors (think chair-rails and shades of burgundy). Upstairs finds bedrooms filled with antiques, soft colors and eclectic accents.

Merging different styles is nothing new to this Pasadena Art Center graduate. Besides putting her degree in interior design to good use, Farrow also has successfully created a line of jewelry, Designs by Kinley, that is sold locally. Eight stores now carry her feminine beaded necklaces, earrings, bracelets and lingerie, including Just Us Girls, Mel & Di, Subliminal, Up Your Alley and La Via Bella.

The mother of two, a private woman by nature, takes her work very seriously. "When I work with a client, nothing is ever duplicated or photographed, so that it can't be copied. It is very important to me that each client has something unique that they can truly call their own," says Farrow.

Personal attention is what designing is all about, states Farrow. "I go to work around what my clients already love, whether it be a sentimental piece or something they already own. I try to really get on the same page as a person. What do they like? What do they want? My goal is to give them something that they could have only dreamed about having."

Farrow stays away from matching furniture sets and the like, opting instead to create a unique look with a variety of pieces that's anything but showroom floor. "I shop at La Via Bella for accessories, and Homemakers always has a lot of things I like. It's possible to get everything you need here in Santa Clarita," says the designer.

The former Saks 5th Avenue pearl-stringer (her first job) enjoys the process of brainstorming and problem solving to create a totally original end result. "I want to create things for people who want to be individuals," she says.
