Tom Tunnicliffe and his wife Loretta, along with daughters Roxanne, 10, and Gwen, 8, have called their grand Spanish Colonial Westridge estate "home" since 2014. And while the house may be less than 5 years old, the style the Tunnicliffes have embraced within its walls is timeless.
"We wanted to honor the architectural design of the home," says Tom Tunnicliffe, "while also choosing elements that were comfortable and could be lived in. The goal was to create spaces that feel warm and intimate."
No area in the Tunnicliffe home more greatly displays this effort than the bedrooms. The family's selection of saturated neutral tones, richly-layered linens, romantic lighting and heirloom-quality furniture pieces all work together to cultivate spaces that feel instantly classic and welcoming.
Creating a sense of intimacy in large rooms can be challenging, but with the dedicated assistance of Hortencia Abouaf of Bella Venezia, each bedroom has become a tranquil escape from the day's hustle and bustle. "Hortencia did more than just sell us furniture," says Tunnicliffe. "She was essential to the ultimate design of our home. She really guided us throughout the process and sourced incredible pieces for us. Most of the furniture and accessories in these rooms were purchased or custom ordered from her store with her assistance and eye for design."
